COVID-19 Update and ISO 13485:2016 Medical Devices

A message from UK Electronics Managing Director Neil Carr on COVID-19 and ISO 13485:2016 Medical Devices:

As the situation with CoVid-19 continues to develop across the United Kingdom, and globally, I feel it is important for me to reassure all our customers and suppliers that the health and safety of everyone remains our top priority during the outbreak of Covid-19.

Like most businesses, at UK Electronics we are doing everything we possibly can to reduce the impact of the Covid-19 virus on our customers, suppliers and importantly, our employees.

We have implemented remote working where possible (or relocated with greater distancing), cancelled all external visits and restricted access to our facilities. This is In line with the most recent guidance from the UK Government,

Our production lines are still open and fully functional and as the headline suggests we are also approved to assemble medical devices.

At the moment we have seen only minor disruption to the supply chain.  For the last 5 to 6 weeks we have been bringing in component supplies well ahead of the projected assembly date and we find that the majority of our suppliers are still fully operational.   We are very well placed to fulfil our order book for at least the next three months and in some cases beyond.

If you have any specific questions relating to any existing orders, or availability if you are thinking of placing an order, please contact your usual internal sales representative on 0161 626 4117, or email quotations@ukelectronics.co.uk

No one can predict the future but UKE has a dedicated workforce, solid foundations and high stocks of components.  We are committed to safeguarding the health and wellbeing of our staff, and we are working hard to continue meeting the needs of our customers safely and responsibly.

As such we have reduced the numbers of staff attending UKE and wherever possible our people are working from home.  Only workers that cannot work from home are coming in to our Royton factory, which includes the Production and goods in and out staff.

All main reception phone lines will continue to be manned, and receptionists will be able to forward your call to the relevant person.

I do understand that these are unprecedented and challenging times, but please be assured that everything we are putting in place at the moment is to protect the health of our staff, customers and suppliers. All steps are necessary to prevent further spread of CoVid-19 and I thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

The UK has faced all sorts of challenges in the past and come through them all.  We will keep you updated should the situation change; thank you all for your support and understanding.  This is an unprecedented period for everyone but we will get through this together.

With very best wishes,

Neil Carr
